A-Rod...duh!
At least a-rod can play a position and isn't just an automatic homerun hitter thats all ortiz does is sit and then go up and make idiots out of red sox fans by making them think they are actually good! haha what a laugh

Even though I am a die hard Sox fan, I have to say, overall, A-Rod. the ONLY reason is because he is a position player, and I have to look at it as a comparison considering baseball on the whole, not their respective teams / leagues. If you make it more specific, like "In the AL only, who is better?" I say Papi. Because he can be the DH, and his hitting is SO clutch, SO important, he gets the edge. You can always get a sick fielder to play 3rd who is outside this question. BUT, if both players were in the NL, A-Rod would end up being more valuable...unless papi became a sick first baseman (unlikely).

As for the A-Rod was voted MVP argument, thats a bunch of BS. He wasn't even the MVP on his team, so how could he be the AL MVP?

Well then you have to ask yourself who would you build your team around??? I would pick A-rod because not only does he hit but he also plays the field way more than Big Papi. That is a really tough question but if we were just talking about the playoffs I would take Papi! FINAL ANSWER: A-ROD

Alex Rodriguez is definitely better than David Ortiz. A-Rod has a chance to break Hank Aaron's All-Time Homerun record, while Ortiz may one day reach the 500 plateau. When Ortiz was a Twin, he didn't even start. Maybe it's just something about Fenway for Big Papi. A-Rod has hit everywhere he's been, even thoug he hasn't been very good in the clutch these past couple years..

Physically: A-rod....at least he plays from defense even tho he seems bad at it. In addition Arod can steal a couple of bases.

But stats wise, papi is better because of his clutch hitting...but again...he's a DH

in fantasy baseball A-Rod is ranked 3rd and Big Papi is ranked 6th. so going by that I would go with A-Rod.

A-Rod. He won the MVP award in 2005. He could play a position unlike Ortiz. A-Rod is certainly more athletic than him.

David Ortiz is a much better clutch hitter than A-rod.

That is worth alot, but other than that A-Rod simply dominates him. Gold gloves (although not at 3rd), MVP's, women, money, power and fame.

A-Rod has been a steady performer long before you people even knew who David Ortiz was.
