I had a Water Dragon, I never had a Bearded Dragon before but the Water Dragon was the best lizard I ever had. In the summer she use to go everywhere with me and she was a perfect angel, but you have to handled them alot as with any lizard. But I've been told that Bearded Dragons are easier to care for. Good luck and do alot of research BEFORE you get one.

I have had both and I must say the Bearded Dragon is so much more docile. They like the attention, don't try to run from you and enjoy being held. And once they're big enough you can even put it on a lizard harness. They are great fun! The only thing I disliked was you have to feed them crickets, which I don't mind. I just couldn't stand the noise the crickets made so make sure to keep the crickets in a place away from where you sleep.

Chinese Water Dragons are generally more friendly, but require a lot of extra care since their natural habitat is rain forest. The bearded dragon has a shorter lifespan, and are less energetic.

In my experience, Chinese water dragons require a lot more handling to remain a nice calm lizard. I never handled my beardeds when I was breeding them and they were always tame.

Chinese water dragon

I have 2 water dragons. I have friends with bearded dragons.
They are both puppy-dogs. (of course you have to handle them a lot)

The water dragons have a lot more difficult caging requirements.

beardies are land dwellers.
water dragons are tree dwellers on trees that are above ponds of water, I have a more or less vertical cage with a pond of water on the '1st story' with branches that lead up to the second story...being that there is plenty to climb on, I have two sets of everything, one for the lower branches and one for the upper branches.

Bearded dragon cages have water dishes and are more horizontal and don't need the vertical aspect so much.

a bearded dragon. i have 1 bearded dragon we just got him in july. he is so active and the sweetest lizard i have never owned any reptiles before him hes my first lizard. the only thing i suggest is to research about him first than decide because even if you get a water dragon there both high maintence you need all the right stuff for them. before we got our dragon i read about him for 6 months before we even got him so i would know about them first.
