My grandfather was a black jew and so my mother wanted me to go to a jewish preschool, she lied and said my dad was jewish to better my chances of getting in, they said the mother has to be jewish and denied our application!

And how is this not racial discrimination?

My friend is from South Africa, which in turn makes him a African-Canadian, although he is white. May he attend your future African school? If it is for only blacks, I have another friend (again in Canada) who looks white, but his mom is black. May he go to an african school? To both questions I wouldn't expect anyone to say yes. It's ridiculous to have a school for a certain race.

But, I see you're point. I don't think any religious schools should exist. All should be public schools. Religion is for the home and not to be taken from my tax dollars.

There already are almost 100% African schools around. But, mostly in highly concentrated Black areas in America and obviously Africa. If they allowed an all black school in Canada and not an all white school. Wouldn't that be racist or unfair in some way ? Ofcourse it would. Jewish school are the equivalent of Catholic schools. Jeudaism is a religion nothing more. If they don't want you. Why do you want to be around those who you think don't like you for who you are or what you look like ? If a guy liked you and you didn't like him and rejected him because of how he looked. He could say the same thing; " She rejected me because of how I looked. That's discrimination based on my appearance. "
It's not racial discrimination because they don't have a race based admission policy like the KKK. They specifically told your mother that the requirment was that she be Jewish only and not white or semetic looking..

Jewish schools are religious. All the jews are free to study in a usual school. It's not about racial discrimination. However schools for African-Americans WILL BE racial discrimination because skin color is the only difference between "whites" and "blacks"

There is a difference between racial discrimination and religious intolerance. Judaism is a religion. Not a place where you come from-that is racial discrimination. If you are not Jewish, than most of the time you can not get into a Jewish school. I was lucky I went to a Christian pricate school when I was younger. But I am not Christian.

First of all, private schools have the right to be picky about their students.

Second, religion and race are different things, Jewish schools and Catholic schools and the like are there to provide a religious education, so if the student isn't there for that, what is the point of going to the school?

Also, in Judaism, religious heritage only comes from the mother, so it's not a racial thing at all.

Im sure there are black schools some where, or at least majority. And if she lied any way about you being jewish whats the problem? its not good to lie to try to get into a school. What was it any way? Elementary school? That was a while ago any way..maybe both parents have to be jewish. Did youre mom read the rules before she lied to try to get you in?

And im not sure..is jewish a race? i didnt think it was...so no there shouldnt be african schools but there are christian schools, catholice schools, so on and so forth...not african..that makes no sense

It's not racial discrimination, only your grandfather was Jewish, your mother and father are not. You can't go to a Jewish pre school if you are not Jewish. It is racial discrimination having white schools and black schools, they are 2 races but Jewish and Christian schools are religions, 2 different things.

I think its wrong that they denied your application but the idea of African schools is absurd. Jewish schools practice and preach the strong ethical and cultural values of a people who have been galvanized by 5000 years of religion and shared culture/heritage. There ae thousands of groups of Africans which do not share a common cultural or historic heritage thus the idea of an African school would not work. Just like the idea of a white school would be absurd because there are thousands of groups of whites who share no religious or ethical/cultural background.

We had that here in N.Amer., it was called segregation. For a publicly funded school from preschool to college all people should be allowed attendance and for higher education it should be based on merit. Anything less is discriminatory. A private school with no public funding should be allowed to pick and choose but the days of racial bias are slowly becoming a thing of the past. We should have the tolerance to understand that some people prefer to stick to "their own kind," but, these institutions should not receive public funds to operate.

Judaism is a religion, African is a race....there's a difference. Jewish schools are not racially discriminatory because Judaism is not a race. actually it is, in fact its the only religion in the world that's also a race, but when you talk about Jewish schools, you mean religion, so no its not racial discrimination because its not a race in this case. ha! found a sentence with incorrect grammar and fixed it! :D
