I think the Angels have the best chance of winning the AL West. They improved an already good bullpen with the addition of Speier and Oliver. Their weakness is offense especially with the injury to Rivera. But they have Kendrick, Vladdy and a healthy Anderson who can all provide some solid offense. Hillenbrand can also provide some offense until Rivera returns to the lineup. They also have a good bench. The staring pitching 1-5 is one of the best in the league they have Lackey anchoring the rotation with Escobar, Santana, Weaver and Saunders. And if Colon can pitch like he used to that will given them even greater depth, but even without Colon the starting rotation is still solid.
The Mariners didn't do to much to improve in the off-season they did sign Jose Guillen and Jeff Weaver. They have Felix who will have a better season than last year. They still need more starting and relief pitching to compete.
The A's lost Thomas and Payton who provided most of the offense for the A's last season. They also lost Zito, who is going to be replace by Harden so that's an upgrade if he can stay healthy. They signed Piazza and Stewart, however it's going to take Piazza some time to getting used to the AL. Their defense is still good and their pitching with Haren and Harden if he can stay healthy is solid.
The Rangers improved a lot this off-season but they did lose Carlos Lee and a couple of other guys. Even with those loses their offense is still good with Young, Teixeira and Kinsler. They acquired McCarthy who seems like a good pitcher. They signed Gagne if can pitch like he used to then they'll have a really nice bullpen with Otsuka as the set up guy. They still need more starting pitching.
The AL west will definitely come down between the A's, Angels and Rangers. With the Angels having the best chance at winning the division because of their overall pitching.

Los Angels Angels of Anaheim will in the division this year. The Angels have the best pitching in the division, the second best closer in the game ( have to give my props to Mariano). Our offense will just be enough to get by. Mike will get everybody to perform with aggressive base running and being able to manufacture runs. I also think the defense will be better than it was a year ago. The Angels can't start in a funk like it did last year. The Angels had an awful May and couldn't over come it(think if they let Jeff Weaver loose sooner than they did last year what the outcome could have been)

A. The Oakland Athletics
Yes On paper the Angels have a better squad, but the A's are the more fit for the 162 game season. There isn't a team with more depth in the Majors than the A's, they have a replacement for every position that could start on any major league team. The rotation is on par with the Angels and so is the Bullpen. Billy Beane also knows what he is doing, the A's are always undervalued and I think they like it that way. Come October you will see Oakland in the playoffs again

The Angels are likely to win the AL west. Even though I want the A's to win it, the Angels are a better shot to win the division.

That division is up for grabs this year. It come down to a three way race just about every year until someone pulls away.
On paper if I had to choose I would say the Angels but not by much over Oakland.

As an A's fan, I'd like to see them win the division and finally get a chance to move on in the playoffs.
Unfortunately, I believe the Angels have superior talent. Vladimir Guerrerro remains one of the game's best all-around players. The Angels have solid pitching, a well-respected manager, and a former Cy Young Award winner. The A's have fewer big names, but (much to my delight), they find ways to win. Whether that continues in 2007, of course, remains to be seen.

I think the Angels have a pretty good chance, but I'd have to say it's going to be the A's. They're the best in baseball during the last half of the season, so if it's close in August I think they'll pull it out. Zito really wasn't that big of a loss considering his season stats over the last couple of years. And I think Piazza will fit in nicely to the hole left by Thomas.

I consider you one hundred%. AL imperative: Tigers/Indians/Twins all in the race for the pennet with the Tigers optimum the way. search for the Twins to wonder dissimilar people this season with for my area a lineup basically as solid as in 2006 when we gained the AL imperative over the Tigers inspite of the departures of Santana, Silva, Castillo, Hunter, Bartlett, Garza.... NL EAST: The Mets with Santana are the crew to conquer in the NL, besides the undeniable fact that I nonetheless dont imagine that they might make it into the playoffs in any of the AL divisions. also, i imagine that the winner of the international sequence this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days will come from the AL imperative, inspite of Boston, large apple (Yankees and Mets), and the Angels convalescing lots over the offseason.
