Steven Gerrard. You can't have both as they're too similar. Gerrard has more drive. And after seeing Beckham's performance for Real Madrid on Saturday at least bring him back into the squad.

When they are all fully fit, I would play Joe Cole on the left side of midfield (he was one of our best players in the world cup), Lampard and Hargreaves in the middle (Hargreaves has been rubbish in ever other position but as a holding midfield player, you will struggle to get any better, I would play Gerrard on the right. If things dont go well during a game, you can either take Gerrard off and replace him with the pace of Lennon or take Lampard off, move Gerrard into the middle alongside Hargreaves and play Lennon the wing, his speed would cause havoc for the last 20 minutes of a game.

Gerrard has been ineffective since Lampard has been in the England first 11. Either Gerrard plays on the right and lampard in the middle or we use Gerrard in the middle and utilise Lennon on the right to give the side more of a drive!

Steven Gerrard...without any doubt...for a lot of reasons. He's companion in the midfield must be : Owen Hargreaves (Def mid), Stuart Downing (L mid) and in the R mid, there are three option : Aaron Lennon, S.W. Philips or David Beckham.
I think it's a bad idea to play Gerrard and Lampard together. But sure Lampard can be a great substitutes player for Gerrard.
I'm not English, but I'm a great fans of England National Team. So wish you many luck in the future !!!!
PS : Defender > Ashley Cole (LD), John Terry (CD), Jamie Carragher (CD), Luke Young (RD).
Striker > Peter Crouch and Wayne Rooney

Steven Gerrard! Frank Lampard is the most overrated player in England! No pace, limited skill, and he cant take criticism either & he only scores so many goals cos he has so many bloody shots!

Maybe Mclaren should try Lampard in the middle Gerrard as attacking midfielder Joe cole on the left and Lennon on the right. That might work.

Gerrard every time for me. Lampard can't stop scoring for chelsea at the moment but I can't recall the last time he had anything like a decent game for England.

You can only have one, or else you have imbalance. I like Lampard but currently I think Gerrard settles in better. Besides Lamps coming on late could really shake things up.
