Better late than never?

I've been saving up to buy my boyfriend a ring for Valentines day, but i wont be able to give it to him by then, but instead, ill probably end up buying it for him this weekend.... is that cheap? is it inconsiderate? what should i do???? please help me out!!!!!

Tell him you ordered it and it should be in sometime this week.

Give him a card with an IOU for something special. Tell him you picked out something special but it won't be "ready" until Saturday. Say, sorry, I thought I planned it better than that but the stars didn't align. He will think the other person just didn't have it ready on time.
