This is really a tough question. I'm a big Joe Mauer fan. I saw him play in Fort Myers, Florida when he was in the minors. I think he has a great career ahead of him.
That being said, keep in mind that most catchers get a day off each week. It's a grueling position to play.
Soriano is an everyday player who gives you power, average and stolen bases.
I think he will have a big year for the Cubs.
In real life baseball, I would probably want Mauer, because as a Catcher, he has the chance to call pitches, set the defense, etc.
But, this is fantasy baseball.
I would go with Soriano.

Alfonso Sorian If there is someone other than Albert Pujols that could win the Triple Crown it is Soriano. Joe Mauer had a good year last year but I wanted see a little more before i could pick him over Soriano.

I'm going to buck the trend and say Mauer. A catcher that is an MVP, knocks home 80+ RBI and hits for average. You will find solid contributors in the field (2B or OF or both, depending on Soriano's eligibility this year) but there are VERY few catchers that contribute to your bottom line. If your draft doesn't go well, wait a little and sell Mauer high for stats that you are weak in.
Good Luck!

Many people would say to take Mauer, with his catcher value, his BA, and his improving talent.
yet this year, soriano is poised for a breakout year. after his near 50-50 season, his power will only get better at the cubs' stadium, which is more hitter friendly. however, if you're weak at catcher or Batting average, keep joe mauer.
good luck man!

to answer from an overall context your roster would be very
helpful -- soriano is a great offensive talent but possesses
iron hands -- he is much easier replaced than mauer --
mauer has become perhaps in the top three catchers in
both leagues -- his offense / defense are top quality --
heavy factor in his favor is his age ( 24 ) & what is known
as position scarcity !!!! -- if u can't keep them both
you should be able to trade soriano for a # 1 starting pitcher

always go with the best available player if they are not too far past their prime (usually considered to be 33 years old or so)
in this case it would be soriano because he will give you 30 or more homers with 30 or more steals..thats hard to find in fantasy
as mauer is going to be an excellent ballplayer, you could find 20 homers and 90 rbis from plenty of others...dont chase players because of their position eligbility

Its up too you. If you want an amazing catcher or outfielder. I'd keep Alfonso but many people would disagree with me and say to keep Mauer. I'd advise you to probably take Mauer.

a million. ARod $40 six 2. Soriano $27 3. Cuddyer $2 4. Thome $sixteen 5. Weaver $2 6. Mussina $6 7. Cordero $4 8. Ibanez $7 of course Arod and soriano are keepers via their usual production. Cuddyer grew to become into large final 3 hundred and sixty 5 days and would save up that production at an extremely miniscule fee. Thome additionally isn't that lots and if he can jack 35+ hrs thats a large save. Weaver is youthful and in a pitchers ballpark. He could be sturdy this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, no longer as sturdy as final 3 hundred and sixty 5 days yet sturdy. and you've got him for years yet to return. Mussina is basically about a gaurentee 15 wins. Cordero gets you saves and Ibanez for thus decrease priced together with his production is large. I enjoyed Arroyo besides yet i'm uncertain if he can save up his production from final 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. As for Sanchez who grew to become right into a uncomplicated %. at right here, he's a no. mutually as you get him decrease priced, he in trouble-free terms enables in one classification- BA mutually as the others help in distinctive categories. Kinsler heavily isn't stable adequate, yet once you may get him back interior the draft i'd attempt for it. Phillips grew to become into yet another perplexing one to cut back enjoying in that hitters park and his 2nd a million/2 production however the others are basically going to do greater valuable for you.
