If it is just occasional cigarette smoke, then opening windows and placing shallow bowls of vinegar throughout the house. You could also simmer a pan of water on the stove with lemon slices in it.
If it is buildup of smoke from long time smoking, then consider having the upholstery and carpets professionally cleaned. Washing the walls, cabinets with a detergent solution that also has vinegar in it. Clean window treatments. Get an odor release substance, usually home repair stores and janitorial supply stores, mist throughout the house and into the air ducts. Also change all your a/c filters. There are sachets that you can put in the vents to help with the smell.
Only a good cleaning will eliminate odors from your house. Incense and deodorizers are only cover-ups. The smell of smoke will return following their use.

Keep the doors open for a while, dry clean the curtains and drapes and steam clean the carpets. THEN if it still stinks, wash all the woodwork with a strong cleanser. Repaint the walls and ceilings. That is about everything there is!! Or move house. That'll do it! Burn incense too, that will camouflage the bad smell of all the other cleansers

Then get the smokers in your life to quit or smoke outside. Every time they smoke.

Or contact your fire dept for advice - they have smoke problems in houses from fires. It is a nasty problem at best.

Shoot the person that smokes,,,,that's if they haven't already died from cancer. You'll have to wash "everything", shampoo the carpets, wash the drapes and scrub the walls. You should also have the air ducts cleaned. They are full of the smell too. Good luck....if it's real bad, you may never get rid of it all.

Wash everything. Wash the nicotine off of the walls and the windows and anything else that is washable. Use Febreeze on any furniture and/or carpets that you can't easily wash.

Also open up your house as much as possible to let the fresh air in.

It is in the furniture, in the carpet, your clothes, in the air ducts. The nicotine is on the walls, ceiling, windows and blinds. Washing everything is the best (probably only) way to get rid of the stink.

Depends on how long its been there. Some places you need to take out the carpet and repaint. If you need a quick solution then use air fresheners and open up the windows.
