Bearded dragons do not bite and do not cost much after you buy the set up and everything. Like all lizards, they eat crickets and meal worms. They are very good frist lizard pets. They also love to be held and do not need a huge tank (about 35-45 galons). You need to get a heat lamp and keep the heat in the tank about 78-88 degrees. Good luck!

Generally, yes, bearded dragons are fairly easy to take care of. I've had experiance with almost any pet you can think of. We have fostered animals since I was young, including reptiles. I got my beardie about 9 months ago. Love him to death, would never think twice about getting him. But his life has been difficult. Everything started off nice and smooth. He was about six months old at the time, seemed be active and healthy (hadnt yet eaten much but I figured it was due to stress). He came from a friends kid who had grown tired of Tobey. A couple days after bringing him home, I found him very lethargic, still hadn't eaten, so I brought my brand new baby to the vet, only to find he had two different parasites, a calcium deficiency, and mouth rot. Over the months, I have slowly nursed him back to health, but he is currently on liquid food that has to be fed to him, and I have spent lots of time and money. Just be aware of what you could be getting into. This goes for any pet.

They can make excellent pets. Go to Bearded Dragon.org for a wealth of information and care sheets. Our beardie is calm, likes to hang out with us and doesn't bite or make noise. I was not so sure about having a reptile as a pet but I really fell in love.

30 gallons for 1, 50 for 2.
They make awesome pets, I have 2 of em, and they are great!
I do warn you that they do pig out on crickets. So take that into consideration. Both of mine eat like 150 a week.

I'm not sure how big of a cage you would need(I know it needs to be big) but you will need a heat lamp, a water dish, a substrate and hiding places, plus you will need fresh veggies, insects and occasionally pinkie mice.

I was skeptical at first because they don't do a lot, but when I took my brother's when he got married I got attached to the dang thing. Its true that their glass case and habitat set up is costly at first, but paying for crickets and superworms every now and then isn't costly at all. I, personally love 'em, but if you're looking for a playful pet...probably spring for something less reptilian/amphibian.

bearded dragons need live crickets, which gets annoying because if you dont raise crickets, as normal people dont, then you have to buy them from the pet store every week

They make fantastic pets but they do require your time on a daily basis. Here is a good caresheet, please read and then read some more before purchasing and be sure to have your setup ready before purchasing your new pet.
