Why, since the begining of year 7, has everyone been being mean to each other and trying to bring each other down in order to climb the popularity ladder? I mean, i just don't get it! Theres like this tiny minority of us that are unpopular. Then another small group of the popular kids. And also a HUGE group of middlers who arn't popular, but arn't unpopular, kicking down kids 'lower in rank' than them to climb higher in hope to become one of those 'popular kids' it disgusts me!

i know! it is ridiculous! me and my mates laugh at the way people automatically move if one of the populars tell them to. but we've just reached the point of not caring any more, we will all be in jobs one day, and we are actually all the same, no one is better than anyone else!

I remember high school days and it was not pleasant. Popularity contest is disgusting because everyone has feelings and it is not good to be a "show off." What purpose is there to brag other than to make someone else more miserable?
However it is also true that everyone should be given a chance to excel - popular kids can also be picked because they exhibit something rare and of value and due to that get picked on because they are not with the crowd.
Since communism has been shown to be a fallacy, everyone should be given the right to stretch to their full potential.
People are stretched to their full potential when the competition is fair. Is it right to pay someone more than what his abilities is?
(No, that's greed for the one who wants more than what he is capable of) Communism does not work because men have different abilities.
It is saddening to hear those who lost fairly backbite that the ones who won are liars, bad etc. It is equally sad to hear when those who made it snub and make a display of how great they are when they could simply walk away humbly without all the airs and snobbishness.
Jealousy occus when someone gets something you wanted and do not have the ability to obtain.
Arrogance occurs when a winner gets something most people wanted and smirks at those who could not get it.
Neither of these are good.

hahaha these are the age when they are trying to fit in....they really havent found their true identity and in order to be accepted they feel like they have to put someone down. this is the norm for theyre age because they are clueless and immature and think that they gain acceptence by making fun of someone. kids think to be popular they have to be on top and to get to the top they have to beat out whoever is at the top and keep their rank. thats just my opinion.

First off - stop allowing yourself to think in confines of those terms.
It's a building where young adults come to study topics you need to know as a human being and where other people trained in the subject are being paid to come and try to teach you... Thats IT!!!

Everything else you are describing is fantasy and exists only in the minds of people who choose to see things around them that way.
If you can begin to learn to strip away false realities constructed by your own insecurity now - you will have a great advantage since this truth doesn't even begin to occur to most smart people until their 30's.... If ever.

There is no ladder. There's grades, there's relationships, there are rich kids and poor kids, good looking and not, fat and skinny, talented and not, hard workers and lazy-asses.... What I am suggesting to you in high schooler terms is to, "keep it real..."

'popular' kids are usually the most insecure, they act the way they do to reassure themselfs and make them selfs feel better, thats why they target some of the quieter kids, because they know that by being mean to them oher will see them as tough and therefor want to be in their group

its all about who is most comfortable with themselfs, and who cares alot about others opinions

its because the middle kids dont have a proper role model in their life, as well as enough imagination and insipiration to be a leader and not a follower.. that was the worse thing about about school life, it really is a contest, but hey the best thing to do is not let it get to you. be better than that.

You are becoming adults, & this is (unfortunately) how many adults act towards each other.

Every species has its pecking order, ever see a load of puppies rushing over each other to get to someone? that's what its like.
