Yes, go to the courthouse and get a packet, it does not cost very much and no lawyers are involved. After you fill it out and turn it in, the judge will tell you what day to come to court and give your husband a chance to come to that same meeting. If he doesn't show up, it will automatically end. Good luck.

If you never lived to together or slept together, you can get the marriage anulled, which basically makes it appear as if you never married in the first place. But it would be difficult for you to file a divorce on your own because in order to file one without courts or attorneys, it has to be a no-contest divorce and I believe it has to be signed by both parties. Go down to your local courthouse and ask the clerk of courts, they may have good advice for you.

If you never consummated the marriage, you can get it annulled. Which is actually alot cheaper and better than a divorce because it's like it never happened. But by all means, get an attorney so it is done right, and you don't have to worry. If he is out of the country and all this, definitely get a lawyer and get it annulled asap. Getting the attorney is just protecting yourself, and your future.

Yes. An easy way to do it would be to go to legalzoom.com, they have a questionnaire and will fill out the paperwork for you for about $300. Or, go to the law library at your local courthouse. They are usually very helpful in helping you out with what you need to do.

Wouldn't it be much easier to hire someone to do it for you?
I have never heard of anyone going that route without a lawyer. Since he is in India, it shouldn't be contested anyways.
Good Luck!

Yes. My husband did, and it was one of the biggest mistakes he made. A lawyer will make sure you aren't going to pay for it in the future. Don't make any mistakes on the form.
