i know you said for married women (which im not), but my wife when we got married used her maiden name as her middle name, then used my last name, you can keep your name the way it is, as for your kids, it is custom in the US, to use the fathers last name, but if the both of you agree for the children to have a differant last name, as in your, you are free to do so, but if you husband does not want to, and if there is any legal battles over it, the children will have to have his last name.

what im saying if he agrees to your children having your last name, its ok, but legally, they can have his.

I kept my last name after marriage; our kids are going to have my husband's last name - I don't want to use hyphenated names as it gets inconvenient and unpronouceable. It makes no difference whatsoever if your name is the same or different from your kids - just do what feels right to you. My mom's name was different from ours our whole life (she too kept her maiden name after marriage), and it has never been a problem. If anything, it was "cool" that she had a different name - it made us more aware of her heritage. You can do whatever you want with your name - change it to your husband's, hyphenate, or keep your own - it is completely up to you. There's no rule as to which way it should go.

My mother hyphenated her name, but me and my brother both tote our father's name - so, if you want to do that, you can keep your last name! I don't see why you shouldn't be able to, honestly.

You can also give your kids hyphenated names, if you want.

I kept my last name, being dad doesn't have any sons. On my license and official documents it reads like this,{Firstname, MI, lastname-marriedname}.
