Ok so i a 2 and 1/2 yrs ago i started using birth control..

i used the PATCH for 1 yr didnt smoke or drink so it had no effect i would just get these strong pain on my lowers stomach at times.

i told my DR so he recommended the RING id been on the ring for 1 yr and 1/2

my question is: Is there ever a time when you should consider taking a break from birth control?

Also do you run higher risks of getting pregnant [dat is still using condoms]?

And anyone on birth control are now alergic to some latex condoms? In my case i cants stand condoms they hurt and dry me up quick even if they have lube

*Just got tested for STD's and im fine

There are alternatives to latex condoms (synthetics and natural). You could give those a try. However, under the BEST circumstances, condoms are still only about 85% effective in preventing pregnancy.

As for taking a break from chemical birth control, there really is no need. The new low-dose estrogen pills, shot, patch and ring are devised for long-term use.

If you like the ring and you're happy with it, and feel no desire to start a family, then there is no need to take a break from using it.

If you would like to try an alternate method, I recommend both the shot and mono-phasic pills (pills that use only one chemical all month long like YAZ or LoEstrin, among others).
