I want to be more informed about modern politics, the Iraq war, etc but find it very confusing. Where can I find simplified information on the background, current state, and future possibilities of political situations??
Thanks.

Modern politics is anything but simple.
If you want the best over all explaination I suggest NPR "All Things Considered" they do the best trying to give all sides to the story and give some background and context.
Yes I know they have a liberal slant but you have to consider the source carefully.

Here's some extreme simplification:

Republicans want the people to have the money (less taxes) because they feel they can decide the best way to spend it.

Democrats want to tax you, so they have the power to make your financial choices.

Republicans are likely to be for strong military, gun rights, pro-life and see the USA as the best country in the world.

Democrats are likely to take money away from the military, force strict gun laws, be pro-choice and feel that America must worry about what the rest of the world thinks.

That's a simple version.

Being fully informed is not "simple". You look for simple answers and you will get what the political parties and the media want you to know.
