You will find people to be your friend. Just have patience and be yourself! Join sports or a club that you are interested in and you will find people with your same interests.

Good Luck!

Brian, you must bide your time as it takes a while to establish new friendships. There are ppl of all types of personalities, you must be patient. People are already trying to "size you up" and this is why they are starting to call you names. You have a different approach on how to meet ppl and your way doesn't match their's. You like to play it safe, congrats to that. That's how I do it.
Anyway, join clubs/organizations, the kinds that interest you. If you like chess, join a chess club. If you're really intelligent and have a high IQ, join MENSA. If you are a good speller, compete in the Spelling Bee. If they're calling you nerd or geek, they must be jealous cuz you're smart. It's just their way of trying to bring you down because they're not smart like you. If sports is your thing, go out for sports, and it doesn't have to be all about football either. If you like wrestling, weightlifting or gymnastics, go out for that. If you like a musical instrument, join that club. There's so much you can do. You will eventually make friends, cuz remember this one thing always: It takes a lot of time to build strong friiendships, they just don't happen over night.
Good luck to you.

Moving away to a new place is always stressful and everyone feels like no one will ever like u, u'll never make friends etc. Even though it is hard, ignore what all those people are saying about u, act like it doesn't even bother u. Be confident in urself. It will take time but u will make friends where u work/study. In the mean time u could become a volunteer with an organisation that does something ur interested in and u'll meet like-minded people :) Don't feel like u have to do 'cool' stuff that u don't enjoy just to be liked by narrow minded people, never let ur true self be supressed by what these people think of u cos their thoughts about u aren't even worth worrying urself over.

Watch the movie "Revenge of the Nerds".
There's always someone out there who thinks like you and they are looking for a pal too. Being called a Geek or a Nerd is not as bad as you might think. It's almost a compliment.

Just take it slow and easy and be friendly and you will soon meet some interesting people. What's bad about being a nerd/geek ? I can't think of anything. Possibly some people are envious of your smarts. Be patient. You will make friends.

I'd be your friend if my religion allowed it. However I can't. But let me give you some advice. Don't let other people put you down and don't let other people tell you your a nerd. Ignore them. Try getting involved in a club after school or some sports and make friends that way. Eventually you'll get some friends. Don't give up.

Well I can't see that you could be all that nerdy/geeky as they are generally passive and would not move to a new city all alone, so you already got something going for you some don't work from that, and in no time you'll meet people who you have something in common with, and you'll have friends.

Whatever you do, don't change your look. Sit somewhere at lunch and see what others are doing. If they're reading, ask them about the books they like to read. If they're talking about some T.V. show, talk to them about that. Over the weekends, watch some of the shows they talk about. At class, raise your hand if you're sharing weekends and talk about that show. Soon you'll have friends. It just takes some time.

I am so sorry. People can be so mean, and hurtful. Everybody needs a friend.. Maybe you can try a community centre or volunteer somewhere? Good luck, and you aren't a loser!
You could be my friend:)
