socialization affects the chooses we think we have available because through socialization we get are values, norms, gender roles from our culture. Depending on what your culture values or expects from its members, you may feel inclined to do or not to do things in order to fulfill these expectations. So if your culture values success and hard work which you learned from socialization, you may aspire to accomplish this task society has put forth. However if your values differ from societies, you may contradict them and pursue something Else. Like if you wanted to be an artists instead, your society doesn't value this so you may end up starving to support yourself as is the case for most.Basically socialization through the family, peer groups, and members of our culture perpetuate the values. We then choose from the options proposed to us from these ideals in fear of breaking them will cause shame, disgrace,or even imprisonment. That is how socialization could affect choices we have to make through our course in life.

If you put lots of different people from different social, financial and ethnic backgrounds into the same housing then you're going to have an adverse affect on your housing situation. That's why with social mobility people aspire and move into different housing that correlates with their income and self perception. You don't get the rich rubbing noses with the poor through choice. This is the new Britain where we're all multi cultural open and accepting isn't it. NO DIVISIONS HERE?
