The best thing to do is hold him with work gloves. A few times a day until he stop biting....when he just does the flip around thing like he is going to bite but doesn't, use the gloves for a few minutes until he settles down then take one of the gloves off and pet him with your bare hand. It sucks and it takes a lot of time and patience but it does eventually work.

Some hamsters are like that there isn't really anything you can do, but if he trys to bite then spank him. When you hold Phillip keep your fingers away from his mouth or just don't hold him if he doesn't stop just hold the other one.

Well, sometimes new pets will be a bit afraid and will bite. Or maybe his teeth are too big. Buy some chew sticks if this keeps happening, so his teeth are healthy.

Let him be for a while if your fearful, it might just need to get adjusted if it's a new one.

Start by keeping him in the cage and trying to pet his back softly. Do not feed him from your hand, he will get used to your hand being his lunch tray and will always look for food in your hand. If you have one of those balls they like to run around the house in, put him in that and hold it and look at him close, so he can get used to you up close. Then, again, it just maybe the way he is, he may always bite.

Make sure you always wash your hands before picking him up. It could be that he smells something on your hands. Start out by wearing a glove to hold him so he can get used to your scent. While he is in the gloved hand, stroke his back with a fingertip of the ungloved hand. He should eventually (with patience) get used to being held.

You might try picking him up wrapped in a hand towel so he can't bite you--he'll probably bite the towel, though. Then you can stroke him and get used to being handled and eventually he should stop biting when he learns to associate being handled with positive experiences.

My hamsters always bit when I put my hand in the cage to pick them up but once they were out they were fine. Try wearing a glove when you pick him up.

Make sure your hands are clean when picking him up in case if your hands smell like food and you have to pick him up in a cuffed hand (scoop him up) dont just grab him, they're fragile. Not unless he is hurt somewhere and you just dont know it. call your vet.
