Why do people fall hard for the one they can't have?

& along the way,they can't see the person who really has true feelings for them.

Human nature. We always have increased desire for the things we can have. Sex dreams are made of the things we do with people we could not possibly get in real life. Catalogs are full of things we cannot afford and life is peppered with thoughts of the one who got away. Reality is not part of the equation.
