Please contact your phone carrier with this information. They need to know about this virus and they may already have found a way to eradicate it.

Also, if you try to make changes to your phone's software, you will negate any warranties.

BTW, try to figure out where the virus came from, if possible, and give that info to them, too

Good luck!

The only way to remove this virus is to reload the software. Depending on where you got your handset from you may be able to do this directly from the nokia website: http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4226014
But this generally only works if your phone has the standard nokia software on it (ie your network provider hasnt messed with it and put on their own software, you should be able to tell if they have if it says your network when you switch it on)
If your network has branded it the best thing to do is take it to them to send to their repair centre to get it fixed or go to a nokia authorised dealer (you can details of the nearest one to you here: http://www.apps.nokia.co.uk/clubnokiaservice/ ). There are little market stalls and smaller independant shops in your area which may say they can do this but personally i wouldnt trust them. Ive seen too many cases where its all gone wrong!

This is a known virus within the industry and is the reason we recommend only having your bluetooth switched on when linked to a headset or transfering a known file. Not only that having bluetooth on all the time when your not using it drains your battery much faster!

Hope this helps.

Oh boy! Thank goodness about all this does is wear out your battery. Here goes:

Variants A-B

Clean up steps require that a third party file manager application capable of reading and writing to the system directories be installed on the phone.

Note that on Nokia 6600 (and possibly other Series 60 2.x devices), the boot hook does not work. On these devices the worm can be rendered inert simply by rebooting and uninstalling the application. The infected files will be left on the drive but they cannot be executed in such a state.

To remove the worm the following steps can be taken:

Using a file manager remove the boot hook C:\SYSTEM\RECOGS\FLO.MDL
Reboot the device
Use the "Manager" application to uninstall "Caribe" application
Using a file manager remove all files from C:\SYSTEM\SYMBIANSECUREDATA\
CARIBESECURITYMANAGER

Variants C-E

For variants C, D and E the folders to be cleaned within C:\SYSTEM\SYMBIANSECUREDATA\ are:

c: MYTITISECURITYMANAGER
d: [YUAN]SECURITYMANAGER
e: ni&ai-SECURITYMANAGER

Variants L-T

Removing these variants requires a third party file manager application capable of reading and writing to the system directories to be installed on the device.

Note that on the Nokia 6600 (and possibly other Series 60 2.x devices); the worm's boot hook does not work. On these devices, the worm can be rendered inert simply by rebooting and uninstalling the application. The infected files will be left on the drive, but they cannot be executed in such a state.

The following instructions apply to variants L through T. Where (variant specific) is mentioned, please refer to the filenames listed in the characteristics section specific to the variant that has infected your device.

Using a file manager, delete the (variant specific) .MDL file located in the following folder:
System\recogs

Reboot the device
Using a file manager, delete the following directory and all files
System\apps\(variant specific)
