Where are all of the drivable helicopters in Grand Theft Auto Vice City?

I just want to know because i just started it. PLus if your know where any drivable planes are either that would be gret because i went to the ariport and none of them were operational.

i think theres only 1 plane in vice city that is operational and thats the sea plane.

helicopters however are in abundance.

theres one on the roof of Diaz's Mansion/Vercetti Estate.

theres one on top of that huge complex on Starfish Island (it has 3 garage doors and a roof top)

theres one on the roof of the police department on Starfish Island.

theres one in the military complex near the airport (this one has guns but is nearly impossible to get without having it be in black smoke and you having 5 stars)

theres another one that you use for a photo mission, i dont remember where you can find that but that ones crap anyways.

Ok I made this map from memory, so I'm probably going to be missing something. I'll also give a little guide.

KEY:

1. Is a Police Maverick (no radio) on top of the Police Station in the Downtown area.

2. Is a News Chopper. On the north side of the road that takes you from Downtown to Prawn Island, there are a couple skyscrapers. There is an open doorway facing the road (or, close to facing it anyway) that you can enter, and it will take you to the rooftop, where the chopper is.

3. This is accessible after you buy the Hyman Condos. Again, there's a door that you go in and it takes you to the rooftop. I recommend waiting to buy the Condos until after you get up to 70 hidden packages, otherwise there may be a glitch where you don't get your equipment there.

4. Is kind of hard to see... It's across the alleyway from the police station, on the rooftop of that building. This is a Sparrow, and it will start a checkpoint minigame.

5. Is a Maverick on top of Diaz's Mansion.

6. Is a Sea Sparrow, you unlock it at 80 hidden packages (or was it 90?). It can land on the water and has a minigun that you can fire with L1 I think.

7. This is the coolest helicopter in the game, the Hunter. It's an Apache, you can use it to do Vigilante missions in, and it has a radio. It's cool. DO NOT ENTER HERE WITHOUT A COP UNIFORM :D Unless you want to get into a big fight.

8. Somewhere around here, there's a helipad with a Maverick. It doesn't always spawn, if it doesn't, just drive away and come back. If you don't see the helipad, then keep looking, there's one SOMEWHERE in the airport!

9. This is a Hunter at the south end of the Beach area of VC. You need to get all 100 packages to get it, but it's much easier to get than the one at the Air Base.

10. This is a Seaplane (a Dodo), you need to do something to unlock it, but I think you'll be able to figure that out very easily on your own once you get to that point.

There are other Sparrows that start missions in the first island, but I honestly never found them myself.

you have to get alot farther in the game and it will tell you that can now access the airplanes!! good luck ^_^
