Sounds like a low amperage leak to ground.If your radio clock stays on after it should have turned off that is your problem.Pull the fuse to the radio and see if the alternator light goes out.You could still have a defective alternator.

I'm assuming you replaced with new battery and new/refurb'd alternator.
Check all the wires. Make sure there isn't a short (e.g wire touching bare metal) Check all the connections. Make sure they're tight. Did the bat light go off at all?

loose connection,?,if alternater has external voltage regulator,change that.check all electrical connections,tighten and oil them if corroded,especially the ground wires
