You can make observations while you wiggle their toes one by one, in order, then mix it up a bit. Also zooming in on their face and planting a kiss on their forehead is good. Putting their arms at their sides and rolling them over gently is a fun experience. They like it when you are happy to see them. During the study period they should be dry and have clean diapers. Also behavioral modification techniques should not be used on infants, if they need attention they actually need it.
Oh, just thought of something, try to recognize their free will. Sometimes when I approach an infant I mentally ask permission or recognize them as whole individuals, then commit to good will. Do this ritually. Maybe I should do that with grown ups. Good luck!
