You should wait until Microsoft have sorted out any teething problems with Vista, then go to your nearest PC store. Very soon you'll be going 'wow!'

To upgrade your brain, start with a full equilibrated food. To work, your brain needs to be in a safe and equilibrate body, that needs many specific things such as fish and meat for the proteins, fruits and vegetables for the energy, water to eliminate toxins and carry good things throughout your body.
To upgrade your brain you will also have to make sport (or have activity) to give oxygen to it... It has been proved that people who practice a sport are much able to make their brain working because all their senses are awake and oxygenated so why not trying walking or swimming or playing golf ?!...
Then you will just have to make your brain working with some exercises that you could find in specialised books or on specialised websites... also buy some magazines in which you could play crossword, sudoku... play the chess or scrabble... all the games that need memory and that make your brain working !

The brain uses complex carbs to function, so rice and whole grain bread. a low carb diet is a no no. fish is good source protein too w/ low fat. You'll be smarter in no time.

Try different things. For example, in your morning routine, do it with your eyes closed. Or when watching something you want to remember, touch something. Smell your way around the house: light a scented candle when you leave to work, have someone hide it and you smell your way to find it.
Involve as many senses as you can when you do things.
