You haven't described him, but you suggest that he is not into romance. Why don't YOU plan it, but plan it at some place he likes such as a sports bar. You may hate the atmosphere, but he will appreciate that you were thinking of something he likes. Why does it have to be what you want? We want our men to be romantic, but we sometimes need to make the moves as well. And, what they consider fun doesn't always include gazing into each others' eyes and handing over $ worth of flowers and baubles. It would be so meaningful to do something he would appreciate without expectations from you. You might be pleasantly surprised about how "into it" he might get if it involves his interests, not yours.
And, seems funny you recently asked about your boyfriend and now your husband, but you say you used to have romantic dates, so is this question real? Or, are you just a newlywed?

Don't even try with the "hints".
Just tell him ...I'm sorry, but if you want it your way, you should have been a lesbian!
I know it takes the fun & surprise away ...but they don't know you wanted it to be a surprise unless you tell them ...better now then later. At least then you could get some hopes for your 25th anivirsary or so... good Luck!

I have learned after 13 years of marriage that hints don't work with my husband. I have to TELL him. I know, it takes all the fun out of it, but he is just TOO dense (or lazy?) to take a damn hint.
