My mom was stay at home mom.... i personally do not plan on doing that. i want to stay at home until my kids are in school then work. I know A LOT of women that are just now having kids and plan on staying at home forever. I think if the husband is ok with it and there's enough money being brought in then why not. i just don't like being stuck in the house all day but some women do.

I have a 10 and 6 year old and have been a stay at home mom for awhile. I home school them and will be home for the next twelve years at least but after they finish high school I will need something else to do. Right now it works out though I'm here when my husband gets home and I take care of everything so he can work what ever hours he needs to. I don't have time to get bored and I love my job.

I would love to be a stay-at-home-mom forever, but my husband is not supportive of it. I will be returning to work in a few months. Mine are 6 and 4 and my job at home has been very stressful and tiring because my husband works crazy hours and works out of town all the time. I don't know how I will have anytime to get anything around the house done once I am working again. (I have worked on and off since the kids were born). When I am working, I don't get any help at home and nothing gets done. My children take all of my time.
I personally know several stay at home moms. They have very supportive husbands who value their contribution to the family and community. They also get out with other sahms once in a while for support, sharing ideas, etc.

Yep, I'm doing it. As long as we can aford it my husband likes me to stay home with the kids. I like it too so it works out. A paying job would be so much easier though. He just likes for me to take care of the kids, if they need to be picked up from school or taken to the doctor its no problem because I'm always there. He loves it that when he is off I'm there to spend time with too. When I was working before we started a family we almost never had any time off together. Its going to be hard when the youngest starts school though, I don't know what I will do all day long once the house work is done. I guess I'll need to find a hobby.

I can't wait to be a stay at home mom but I think once the kids start school it would be nice for you to do something for yourself, go work or volunteer somewhere. My husband's mom only stayed at home and when all 3 of her kids got married within 18 months she had and is still having a very hard time. Her only identity was those kids and now she is lost. Don't give up all of yourself for your kids.

Ah!! at least you only have one right now, I had my 3 kids when we were in the navy. My husband was always away 6 months a year and just think about the work that I have. But just look at this way, it will give you time to know your baby. I know that staying home will be a bit diff. for a while specially if you got use of working almost everyday. I had my career too, but when I found out that I was pregnant with my first one, I didn't know what to do, but I follow my heart and that will be how to be a good mother, friend, and mosthow to be the protecter of my baby girl.
To be a mother will comes naturaly, just give your self some time to adopt it. Your baby is only 4 months old and this is the good time that you can have with him/her. Take lots of pictures and it will be a good memory that you will have in your heart, esp. when your baby grow up. Also before I forget, every women thats just had a baby might experience some change (postpartum),this is what you need to pay attention. My past experience because of hormones,it made me feel sad, sometimes moody, but it went all away not because of medication but watching my baby grow. Give yourself a little time to be a new mother and before you know it, it will make you feel wonderful inside...............love is the key!!...congratulation!!!

I have a 8 month old baby boy, and I am now a stay at home mom. I will not be going back to work, and am really looking forward to being home with my kids (we are hoping to have more soon) Both my husband and I were raised by our stay at home moms and we both think it is best, when and if, you can afford to do so. I think the government should encourage moms to stay home, instead of offering to help with daycare pay the stay at home mom enough to stay and raise you own kids.

I don't even have kids and I'm a career homemaker. I quit my job in August when we moved to be closer to my husband's new job. We were planning to have kids, but at this point we've decided that it's not for us. However, I don't plan to go back to work. What I did do, however, was go back to school. Even with a part time job, it's very hard to do as good of a job at school as you could, so I'm taking advantage of my time to get my degree.
We've talked about me possibly working in the future, but as it's not a financial need I'm going to get as much schooling as I feel that I'd need and wait for the perfect job to come along. I'm not going to go back to the same pay rate that I used to have, if I get another job it'll be something much better and less stressful. And all of it will go into savings. =)

I have a 2 year old and stay home with her. I think about going back to work sometimes, but i dont want my daughter in day care so it may have to be after she starts school. I have the feeling even if i do go back to work my husband will want me back at home because he wont like having to help with housework, dropping off and picking up our daughter, or having to miss work because she gets sick or has an appointment. Plus i feel like its great to be home with your baby, but the time that our kids REALLY need us is when they get into the pre-teen years. They need help with homework, heart to heart talks, supervision and attention.

I did for awhile but it gets boring, doing the same thing day after day with no one to talk to. If you plan on doing it for awhile find an at home job to keep you busy in between nap times so that you can still have outside contact.
