Against.

It's barbaric and disgusting.

I long for the day when my country joins the civilized countries of the world.

Not only do I object in principle, but our so-called "criminal justice" (its justice is truly criminal) system makes little effort to make sure those on death row actually did anything wrong.

Edit: There's someone who actually said it's OK for the government to murder innocent people! Geez!

Un-be-frickin'-leavable. Hope that person never votes.

i think its inhumane. it goes against the christian religion. I dont think no one has the right to play God no matter what the person did. Only God can judge another human being. the bible says to turn the other cheek if somone slaps you, so i capital punishment goes agains the grain of christinaity. Its funny how our govt can kill someone for the wrong that they caused and still say in God we trust. it contridicts most teachings and i dont agree with it. Sometimes a person can be wrongfully accused and an innocent man can die which doesnt seem fair. It makes more sense to me that anyone causing such a henius crime should be put to life in jail so that they may suffer their guilt is better then helping them escape all pity.

That it doesn't work because it isn't used. When people know that they're going to be put to death for a committed crime, they shouldn't committ the crime, but when they know that they'll get a gazillion (ok slight exaggeration) appeals and so the sentence won't be carried out for 10-15 years, you won't stop anything.

While I agree that maybe 30 days is not enough time, a year is plenty of time to prove that your conviction should be overturned. And (here's where I'll get blasted) yes soem innocent men may be executed, but so will a hell of a lot of guilty ones! Not to mention the crazies! How can you be sane enough to kill someone, but too crazy to be put to death? Puhl-ease!

I believe it is the responsibility of the State in the most heinous, extreme cases of murder, but only with the highest levels of evidence and proof, and a vigorous, professional defense.

I just wander how many that have been executed were not guilty. You sure can't undo a killing. But you can open a gate. It has happened

I'm for it, as long as there is a wealth of evidence against the perpetrator.
