Abortion is not morally acceptable, regardless of the circumstances surrounding the baby's conception. This includes the age of the mother, whether the sex was rape or consensual, whether the baby is imperfect, or whether the mother's life is in danger, bla bla bla bla.......

It all comes down to this; an unborn baby is a living human being, and as such, has an inalienable right to life. Any other single human being, including the mother, has no right to make a judgment as to whether another human being will continue to live. Whose right is it to determine whether a life will be "good enough" to be lived by another person? Whose right is it to take the life of another person just because their existence is an inconvenience to them? Once we identify the genetic marker for homosexuality, should we abort all unborn babies who show it, to "spare them a hard life"? Of course not! We, as a moral and just society, choose to address problems instead of getting rid of the PEOPLE who are affected by the problem, don't we?

I don't need to invoke religion into my argument, although I am a Christian. Killing another human being is always wrong, whether you are a Christian or an Atheist; a Republican or a Democrat.

All of the exceptions and hypotheticals and justifications and rationalizations for abortion are meaningless to anyone who lives their life by the universal principle that values human life, no matter how inconvenient that life may be to another person.

Killing innocent human beings is wrong. Every abortion kills an innocent human being. It's not complicated. For more information, see:

Well, morally, I have issues with it. I would not have one myself.
But I think in some circumstances, it's understandable, such as when the woman's life is at stake, or when it's a product of rape.
However, I think late-term abortions should be completely illegal. After the sixth month, the baby (and there can be NO denying, it's a BABY at that point!) can be delivered prematurely. There is no reason for abortions to still be legal in the third trimester.
However, abortion should be kept safe and legal in the first and second trimesters, at least until the source of the problem can be solved.

Personally I am against it and would not recommend it unless there was a danger to life of the mother, rape or incest.
Legally I think the government should outlaw 3rd trimester (late term) abortion, as long as there is a provision for the life of the mother.
We also need parental notification and if the child feels the parents should not be notified the courts should decide on a case by case basis. (If you can't tell your parents, then there is an indication of a severe problem at home.)

Although pro-life, I am also pro-choice. I strongly believe a woman should be in total contol when it comes to pregnancy; in this sense, I believe it is a woman's duty to use proper precautions if not interested in pregnancy (such as some form of control, or avoid the sexual act, if not married).

However, in the case of a rape, I strongly believe that no woman should carry and give birth to a rapist's child! With today's technology however, no woman should have to even undergo an abortion. Simply report incident as soon as possible and seek medical help! And if for any reason, the rape or incest was not reported until much later, then I would in this instance support a woman towards whatever she decides. I think it is better than having to go through life being constantly reminded of such a traumatic act!

PajamaMama, it is true that an unborn child is a human being. However, if the pregnancy is the result of a rape, I would that no woman ever rewards a rapist with offspring! Carrying and giving birth to the product of a rape is more like condoning the brutal rape act! Are you making your argument about rape pregnancy simply because of your religious beliefs, or would you actually carry and give birth to a rapist's child? I think it is about time that people face reality and make arguments that would also apply to them, were the roles to change.

First of all, Roe v. Wade must be overturned someday, hopefully soon, and hopefully by a Supreme Court decision that is at least 7 to 2 (since Roe itself was decided by that margin). That is not because of my views on abortion -- that is because of my views about the Constitution.

Second, when Roe is overturned, I would be willing to support legalized abortion before fetal viability. Before a fetus is viable, the question of whether or not it is an individual person is dubious enough that I would be willing to allow women the choice.

It's murder, plain and simple. It should be illegal. Because it has been so accepted, young women now have a "solution" to their little "problem", should they get pregnant. Life is precious. The person who's getting the abortion apparently values their life, so my question is why can't they value the life of the baby they chose to make? It's wrong.

Abortion is an ugly way of making money! If a woman is old enought to have unprotected sex ,and get pregnant ,then she is old enought to have the baby ,and either keep it or give it upp for adoption, all life is sacred, the unborn heart beats a bit slower ,but it beats! And I hear they [drug manufacturers]are making soaps and shampoos of the babys skin! Is not this once done in Germany? How can 21st century men bow down to this horrible act of evil?

Wow, how can someone be so radically anti-abortion, but be so excited about the death penalty? Sheesh.

Although I am pro-choice, I could not (at this point in my life) consider having an abortion. Had I been impregnated earlier in my life, I probably would have had an abortion, though. You never truly know until you are in that position.

The way I feel about abortion is the way I feel about pretty much any hot button issue: Just because it isn't right for one person, doesn't mean we should take the choice away from others. I know hardcore Christians especially can't handle the idea of abortion, because it goes against their beliefs. That's fine for Christians. But what about other people who are not religious? You have no right to take away their choices. This is one of the best aspects of the United States: separation of church and state.

I personally believe that it is a individual choice. I believe that in cases of Rape, Incest it is perfectly legal and some people should shut their mouths against how bad it is. I am a woman, it is my body, I would rather see women go to a clinic then to get backyard abortions and kill themselves. I do not consider a child a child until it is born, call me a feminist or whatever you want but I have worked for Planned Parenthood and I have heard stories that would change some people's views on it.

My husband always told me that if it was between me and the unborn, that we could have another child, he can't get another me. I have a friend that listened to the heartbeat before she had one, and she still did, because it was her life or the babies.
