If a Muslim is devout in his beliefs, can he be trusted with the security of our nation? Doesn't his religion say that he must submit to Mullahs, which means that they could influence our politics? Doesn't Islam refuse to acknowledge the Bible, which our principles are founded on?

And if this is all bunk, and a "good" Muslim can deny all of these things; wouldn’t they be denying the teachings of the Quran? Wouldn’t that make them a hypocrite to their own group?

Just wonderin'......

There are more then 1.4 billion good and kind Muslims around the world, and if many people think that all Muslims are bad well they're not, only about 40 or 50 million of them are bad out of 1.4 billion good Muslims!! If this nation really trusts the Muslim guy then I think there would be no problem. I also think that he is going to develope a peaceful plan to end the violence in the world once and for all. As it claims that the word "Islam" means peace and I believe that. Guys we should not hate all of the Muslims, the hatred that is against all of the Muslim people is unfair for them and like what I mentioned earlier that 1.4 billion Muslims are all good. But in the current circumstances it is far to have a Muslim leader, because of the misconceptions towards the Islamic religion.

Never judge a man his use of the religious cloak for disguise. There are more sinners on this earth who use religion to hide his own sins to fool others. Only fools judge people by his association to a religion. Don't forget the example Christ have us. He entered a 'holy' place of prayer and exposed the immoral money-changers within that place. Don't forget that our Founding Fathers were once England's citizens but fought the staunch English patriots to give us America. Only fools use relion as a test. Wisdom looks at the candidate who is capable of doing what's best for America and the American people as a whole. Today's religious organizations are filled with hypocrites, and to say that one religion's followers will serve America better than another's is 'bull' and merely a fool's naive dream. The danger comes from within a person, not his shining label of declaration of a religion. Take Ted Haggert who folled millions... that man hails himself as a Christian, and he has, finally, shown gis true colors - thanks to 1 courageoous who exposed him for what he is within: A compulsive Liar and a sly Hypocrite who used Chritianity to cover up his sins and fooled so many simpletons. Good grief, how many have let him hug with the same hands and arms that have been used to fondle gay prostitutes! And there will be still many fools charmed by his lies and manipulation.

Vote for the Candidate that can serve America well with great integrity, wisdom, honor, and pride, so that America can once again lead the World of Diversity into the next century. We need a President who can speak and understand the 'language' of all nations... not one who can only talk about his own religion and turn the world into chaos. If any one is only looking for a Christian who studies the Bible to serve America, then look no further - one should just vote for a Monk, priest, or a pastor, or don't vote at all. Then if there are holy nuke wars to bring us to Armaggedon, one can surely pick up your Bible and pray that he/she'd be the one heading to heaven, not to hell. Remember Solomon, the son of David and thought to be a man of wisdom, but brought damnation upon himself for living his life out that was worse than that of a female harlot!

To say that Obama is a Christian and is likely to change his faith is like a nincompoop having fantasy dreams that all other Christians are sinless! Take DeLay, Haggert, Ralph Reed who tote the Bible so often. Aren't they dirty Christian scoundrels that so many fools had admired? Take Newt Ginrich for another example? Is it at all a good Christian moral to divorce one's wife when she's in bed dying so that he can wed the woman he's having an affair?

the priority with your question is it means that by some ability a Muslim president would be much less honest than a Christian one. I see no inherent distinction between the two, or a Jewish president or a Buddhist president or a Hindu president or an atheist president. someone's trustworthiness isn't defined via the religion they persist with, if any.

Considering that in over 200 years we've only had one CATHOLIC, I think the chances of a Muslim president in the next few generations are fairly low. That said? Sure we could. A lot of people insisted that if JFK won, he would take away everyone's Bible and take orders from the Pope, and that didn't happen. A good Muslim, to get elected, would also have to be a relatively good man and pluralistic.

The Muslims can't. This is about Muslims in India but it is telling and can apply to your question. Read the following and use the link to read more:

4. Telling to Muslims that their ancestors were the same as those of the Hindus, does not get us anywhere. I know it from personal experience, after having held a dialog with my Muslim neighbours on this subject. They told me in so many words that the Koran and the Hadis do not permit them to join the national mainstream with Hindus. Islam, they told me, teaches that if an Islamic country attacks India, Muslims in India must help the invader. Muslims, they said, have to strive always to convert every Dar al-Harb into a Dar al-Islam with the help of Muslims from other lands.

5. The vote-hungry parties like the Congress, the Janata Dal and others, are always ready to please the Muslims. And the Muslims are not only fooling these parties for political gains but are also augmenting their power in India. They view this country as Dar al-Harb.
Dar al-Harb is the house of War where the unbeliever resides

This is also very telling:
In 1924, Mohammed Ali to whom Gandhi showed such affection said, : "However pure Mr. Gandhi's character may be, he must appear to me, from the point of religion, inferior to any Mussalman even though he be without character." In 1925 he emphasized: "Yes, according to my religion and creed, I do hold an adulterous and a fallen Mussalman to be better than Mr. Gandhi". That is the true Islamofascist mentality revealed in all its glory.

I'll take a "good" OR a "bad" Muslim over either a "good" or a "bad" socialist......

But I'd like to see the person get up and acknowledge that the Koran is a very violent script and that Muhammad was a very violent person and say look, they're trying to reinterpret this into 21st century society to mean the praying and fasting and tithing are acceptable but the cutting off of heads and fingertips is not.

I know the Christian bible is not perfect and the Christian religion has had a history of violence but Christians - Catholics in particular - have HAD that discussion. I think it was a valid question to ask of JFK and that he answered it - I'd like to see a Muslim candidate answer the same questions.

That said, between a Muslim tax-cutter and a tax-hiker of ANY religion, I'll take the tax-cutter.

Obama is a Christian. The fact that he is able to change in the event of misunderstanding is a commendable feature.

the POTUS must take an oath to uphold the constitution...our current president (a christian) lied when he took that oath. Does being a christian count for much? Not from here.
