A team of health administrators can oversee clinical departments like nursing or surgery, or direct the operations of non-health-related departments like personnel, finance, community outreach, planning and marketing. In smaller health care facilities like nursing homes or home-health agencies, health administrators often wear multiple hats, managing the activities of a whole range of departments and sometimes all of them.
