A CD would be good, god knows that a cd with his favorite music from his favorite gal is the bomb....just be sure to put a special note on the cover to keep you in his mind every time he touches it or anything.

u could always give him a romantic cd. well do make him one to add in his gift bag. since he is just 14 i would recomment to get him a nice polo shirt with a cd as u mentioned like make one and in a nice bag with a card.
thats my idea.
