The same reason people don't understand us Damn Yankee's. We have never lived in that part of the country to appreciate it.

I wouldn't say that they were ignorant, but to one person southern pride might meet hospitality and to another it might mean The Klan. To African-Americans it might mean former Governor George Wallace attempting to block blacks from entering schools during desegregation. The news still shows people trying to keep the old confederate flag flying in public places or schools.
I've lived in the north and in the south and my question to you is, "Why should people think southern pride is not associated with racism?"

people aren't ignorant to southern pride, they just don't agree with it. Seeing how you answer other questions that have to do with blacks, people that have the same attitude that you do are definitely reasons why people look down on southern pride.

Its more of a strong disagreement
as to the definition that some people of southern
descent hold to. such as hatred
