I am exclusively breastpumping for my 3 month old. My DH and I want another child as soon as possible (we want 2, very close together). However, I'm not sure how to go about doing this if I'm pumping. I pump about 6 times a day but I have a PHENOMENAL milk supply. Is it still possible? When should we try to conceive (like, time of day or something)? If I have a good backup of milk in the freezer and I don't pump for say, 8 hours, will that help at all? Am I silly for even trying to conceive??

➔ Trying to Conceive
My doctor told me it is extremely important to wait a year after giving birth to try for another baby because your body needs time to fully recover.

How much you are pumping and when has nothing to do with your ability to conceive. Breastfeeding usually stops your periods and ovulation for a while. I didn't have a period for a year after my first and 9 months after my second. The only way to conceive is to wait until you begin having a period again. Why would you want them so close anyway, that is really hard on your body. I would wait until your little one is at least 1, that way your kids will have some one on one time with you as well. Good luck.

Exclusively breastfeeding is not a form of birth control...so if you want another go for it. But I would at least wait a year to give your body a rest. It takes a woman's body 2 years to fully recover from giving birth.

Although it does decrease your chances, it is possible to get pregnant while breastfeeding. If I were you I would wait a few more months, for medical reasons. About your abundance of milk, have you ever considered donating some of your milk to a milk bank?

Hi there, well my mom got pregnant with my brother while breastfeeding my sister, AND before 6 weeks after giving birth which is when they "say" you cannot get pregnant until after 6 weeks! My brother is 13 months apart from my sister. I would check with your OB/GYN and let him/her see how your cycles are, and if you are ovulating. GOOD LUCK! I would wait til your baby is 6 months to start ttc...

No you don't need to wean to get pregnant, you do however need to be ovulating which generally doesn't start until you get your period back.
Not feeding for 8 hours will do nothing but make you miserable.
Also really your body needs a bit more of a break, don't you think? You can breastfeed during pregnancy BTW. But some women loose their supply.

Having 2 children that close is silly...take it from a mom of 4. You will be exhausted and it will be so rough on your body to have a baby so close...Give yourself at least a year to get to know your baby and give your body a rest!

I am nursing my 10 month old and didn't get my period back yet. Did you get your period yet? Otherwise you might not have ovulated and then there would be no way for you to get pregnant even if you ttc. Best of luck.

My friend had one in Feb '05 and another one last May. The last time I talked to her, she was still breast feeding both of them.

seems a little soon to be getting pg. Your body needs time to replenish after birth. I would talk to your dr.
