Hey David I just got a real good 17 dual core amd from hpshopping.com and heres what I think.
If you are going to just surf net, write emails etc.. you can go with a lesser cost laptop such as an intel dual core but gamers no that AMD is much better.
Last night I was reading a site where it showed charts and comparisons of intel vs amd and amd was better in all aspects.
Also I got vista home premium too so you may be getting the same computer I did.
Dual core is the way to go. When you get your laptop go to the site below and it will protect your investment by protecting your computer. Its a site I put together with all of my favorite free programs I use.

AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile Technology MK-36 was a great system, but when the dual processors came out, they over shadowed all non-processors.

personally i'am and AMD fan, the processors you are looking at are different the t2060 is a dual core while the AMD is a single. the AMD have faster clock speed. so if you are going to be multi-tasking the intel would preform better for you, if you are going to play games the AMD would be better. also make sure you get at least 1GB memory (preferebly 2GB) if you want your computer to run fast with vista.

dont listen to these people. Intel has been in the lead for a while ever since they released their Core Duo line processors and AMD is just now catching up. Core Duo is faster, consumes less power. Go for the Core Duo, if you can afford it go for Core 2 Duo for future proofing your laptop. Not the mention that Windows Vista takes advantage of the multi threading processors. So get one with as many cores as you can!
