my year old Dutch sneezes. Sometimes as much as Twenty times in a row. We have taken her to the vet they gave us Vibramycin Syrup. This clears it up for a short time but then she starts up again. The vet says this may be a on going condition. Is anyone else out there dealing with the same problem? She eats, drinks, sleeps, plays, unlimited supply of hay. I buy bales of timothy from a nearby farm.

I have an 1yr old dutch that has the sneezes. We have taken her to the vet and have tried two different types of antibiotics with her the first did not work the second clears it up for a short time then she's back at it. She is a house bunny and has free roam of the house and the house is bunny proofed. People have said she might be alegic to her hay seeing our hay is bought from a near by farm, but my other two buns have no problems with it . We have switched her food to Ox Bow which was recomended by the vet and have tried store packed timothy and orchard grass so we do not think it is a hay allergy. The vet was recomended to us from the humane society and the house rabbit society. The vet says that this maybe an ongoing problem and am wondering if anyone has delt with this preferably a breeder or someone who has delt with rabbits in the past. They are members of our family not just pets

My rabbit did the same thing and it was pasteurella. He put ehr on antibiotics. The vet should do a culture tho this doesn't always proove it. Take her back or to a different vet. Not all vets are rabbit savvy. You can find some great vets at http://www.rabbit.org

What kind of litter are you using for her? I had a rabbit and she had a similar problem...it is pretty common in rabbits as far as I know. But you may just have a bunny with an irritated nose from the litter. Or the hay if it is really dusty. I have guinea pigs and use carefresh for them because the previous stuff I used was too dusty for them. It may also be a respiratory infection. I would suggest going to another vet that specializes in small animals or rabbits just to get a second opinion.

sounds to me like your rabbit has an allergy problem. if you are buying timothy hay from a nearby farm this is probably the cause. try just feeding it some regular grass or alphalfa hay. if this doesnt clear it up ask your vet if it is alright to give the rabbit childrens dimetap. that is what our vet recommended for my rabbit when it turned out she was allergic to the food we were giving her. hope this helps.

I agree you want to attraction to close what's causing your rabbit to sneeze yet compared to people that reported hypersensitive reactions or undemanding chilly, i understand that rabbits sneezing will be reason for situation. The rabbit vendors worst worry is Pasturella or Bordatella, "Snuffles". This concerns those with more beneficial than one rabbit sufficient to from time to time euthanize the ill rabbit to keep the others. Now days, exceptionally once you've a unmarried rabbit or your rabbit is basically not round others, maximum persons opt for a round of meds from the vet. There are basically more beneficial advantageous meds accessible now days using animal health learn and progression of medication. The Pasturella would not at all bypass away one hundred% and the rabbit oftentimes not in any respect receives again to its former healthy self completely yet can stay a splendidly satisfied existence. you would basically not in any respect prefer to reproduce that animal because it may bypass on its "hidden" ailment to its offspring. FYI, maximum rabbits, if examined through a vet for Pasturella will attempt useful, so sorting out would do your and your rabbit no solid. it is more beneficial advantageous to search for the seen syptoms and deal with if proper. signs and indications of "Snuffles" are sneezing out white snot. If he's blowing snot, you've were given a issue. Ask your rabbit experienced vet for information about treating. Now, I had a rabbit that I delivered to a educate and grow to be fairly shocked to make certain him sneeze 3 or 4 situations and then blow out whitish boogers. My suggestions went actual to snuffles. besides the undeniable fact that, i did not see or listen him sneeze after that till 2 weeks later (without snot). I took him to the vet and we did not discover any difficulty. i trust it grow to be a small piece of hay stressful his nostril and he basically had to get it out. We concluded he did no longer have Snuffles. So inspect each and each and every rabbit one at a time. look on the circumstances surrounding the sneezing. have you ever replaced hays? Does he sneeze in trouble-free terms once you sparkling his cage? Or is it commonplace? Is there snot? Does he look "no longer fairly himself"? i can not tell your why your particular rabbit is sneezing yet understand that once a rabbit does sneeze, it is wisely worth investigating. maximum ideal needs.
