Well, when i get a black eye, i usually wash it, and then press some salt to it. A tiny bit, otherwise it hurts. Put enough of it so you can feel tingling, but not hurting. It'll go away 2 days faster. You can also put some ice on top of a paper towel. When you put ice on, make sure the ice is right below the eye, otherwise it won't help.

It will go away. I am assuming you are smart enough not to put salt in your eye. When you got hit by the ball it broke all those tiny blood vessels in and around your eye. They bleed out under your skin which is the cause of the bruising or "black" eye. It will reabsorb into your body and will change back to it's normal color. There is nothing to worry about unless you are having trouble seeing which you did not say was a problem.

The black is the excess heme from your blood. Try using a combination of ice to the surface and take some anti-histamines (such as Claritin).

I have heard that milk on a cloth held on the eye will help pull some of the darkness out of it

uhh call a doc. or CVS pharmacy or if you put tea on a cotton ball then on your eye ; it worked for me and i get them all the time bec i play football
