I too had this same fear when all 3 of my babies were less than 4 months and could roll both ways. But it is true when they can roll both ways the chance of SIDS drops dramatically.

Once they can roll on their own, they are fine. Make sure her mattress isn't too fluffy and she should not have a pillow or more than one blanket. Keep the room moderately temperature, not very hot, and no smoking. That pretty much reduces anything you have control over that would affect your chances of SIDS.

When they are capable of rolling both ways on their tummy, it is ok that they sleep on their bellies. When they are newborn and only a few months old, they are not capable of waking themselves or moving if they stop breathing, but once they master the rolling over task, they are ok.

If it would make you feel better, buy one of the special pillow wedges that keeps them in one position. I had one but never used it so I can't say how well it worked. Another thing to do to ease your mind is get a monitor that has an alarm to alert you if something changes in her breathing. Better to rest easy than to worry about spending a little extra on a monitor.

If it is costing you peace of mind you can use positioners to prevent her from rolling, assuming this doesn't make her scream.
However it is generally excepted that you can let your baby pick their sleeping position once they can easily roll both from front to back and back to front.
But don't discount momma's instinct.

Unless she is a preemie or a very small baby, I think it is okay. Let her sleep as she pleases. Don't fret, mommy!
