Hibernation, viruses, firewall?

hmm...I was wondering...Now a days manufactors have made computers last longer by putting the option of sleep, stand by and hibernation, and when in hibernation, I was wondering if you could still get viruses and such without a firewall?

if your computer is in standby/hibernate its not very likely a virus will get thru as you will not be connected online

No, as it disables all network connections to save battery power.
