You can use American Mastercard in everywhere. I don't know which kind of card you have but (debit or credit card) you can use it if there is a pos (point of sale) machine in a shop etc.
About United Arab Emirates, if you will go to Dubai you can use in everywhere. Also in other cities of course. In hotels, shops, cafes , supermarkets etc. There are pos machine in there.
But, in some of small shops (who sells electronics with cheap prices) they don't have pos machine, and in some of shops yhet charge extra % for your buyings. Expecially trade goes cash in that kind of shops. If you want to buy electronics try to use cash, because of this small shops sells electronica with very good price then big shopping malls.
That's all, as ai said you can use master card in everywhere just you can live a bit problems in small shop.

Even though credit cards are more commonly recognized overseas, it is handy to have traveler's cheques because of their security features in case your wallet is stolen.

You should be able to use it anywhere where they accept Mastercard, which is most places that accept credit cards.
