I have heard some designers go so far as to say clothes just look better on a tall skinny frame!

I actually think uniformity of fit is a big reason that skinny models are considered important in the fashion industry. In both fashion shows and photo shoots, designers use one size and fit for all their designs. The more curves models have the more diverse the fittings, hence the designer would have to alter or tailor each outfit for each model.

The fashion industry might prefer skinny models because the clothes they make are kinda small and they want models that can fit in them. It's not that they like skinny models, it's just that the clothes they have to wear doesn't necessarily fit "other than skinny" models.

Agreeing with the second person, there is the whole skinny vs. fat hype that will always be there.

Most people in fashion will admit that skinnier models just fit better in their clothes. Straight up and down is easier to work with than curves and humps.

I do applaud the fact that people are starting to speak up though and not looking at this as a normal thing anymore. If you're naturally thin, that's fine. But starving yourself for the sake of beauty is not only dangerous it's also extremely unattractive. =P

If there is a logical reason of why designers prefer skinny models is because designing with solid colors is too easy. They need to mix colors, and prints and add many things to be unique, and offer something new, and, of course this designs are fattening (just using two colors is already fattening). Also, they save time when choosing the same size for all the models, not money...

Very skinny fashions would desire to easily be banned, yet this decision would desire to come from experts, say a panel of nutritionists and docs. no longer purely some trend clothier who thinks the kind seems 'skinny'. Measures such via fact the physique mass index would desire to be considered. the purpose of considered one of those b an would be to deter ingesting issues and coach those which you're able to be any shape or length as long as you're healthful. HEATLH being the underlying subject right here. Banning all skinny fashions would additionally be unfair, and the purpose to be to foster useful attitudes in direction of heatlh and physique image. The media performs a brilliant place in influencing human beings's comments, surprisingly with young toddlers and the greater youthful era. Portraying adult adult males and ladies of various sizes, shapes and ethinicity as 'alluring' will help human beings comprehend that there is no 'typical splendor'. Blondes could be alluring, yet that doesnt recommend that brunetets are not. interior a similar way once you're clearly curvy yet nonetheless healthful, there would desire to be no rigidity to shed extra pounds. And according to the fool who mentioned "definitely everyone loves anorexic chicks", no, definitely everyone would not love 'anorexic chicks". do no longer generalise for others and don't impose your slender minded and thoroughly unfavorable perspectives on others.

Firstly to the idiot that made the comment about fat..grow up. tot he second person to comment you are right, why the fashion industry or the media in general think super thin is sexy is beyond me. I can't imagine finding Paris Hilton or Nicole Richie sexy! Ugh! Ok on to the question. The fashion industry uses skinny models because the clothing falls on their form better. They are very flat-chested, narrow to no hips, usually tall. So the clothing falls unhindered on the body making a clean line, allowing artistic vision in the design. Hope that helps answer your question!

honestly i dont get why they have to be skinny but it may have to do with the amount of fabric they use. Even though i heard some places are only getting models that are at a certain weight (so they're like not super skinny) maybe being skinny is just what the models want to do.

i don't agree about the less fabric less money thing, because designers are already making a HUGE profit off of clothes that barely cost anything to be made.
but what i do agree with, is the fact that seeing an article of clothing on what other people deem as "beautiful" will make you want to buy it more.
and the fashion industry seems to be obsessed with a very unrealistic idea of beauty.
so to answer your question, no, i don't think there are any logical reasons!!

The fashion industry shows girls they have to be a certain way. With all the obese people there are in the world now a days, it somewhat encourages them to loose weight. But then again, it encourages girls to become even thiner; resulting in anorexia. Tyra Banks is doing a really good job on encouraging women that your beatiful no matter how big or small you are! I think big and small woman are both equal!=)
