I don't believe the novel gets that specific (though it's been a while since I've read it), but it does state that Victor was working with the largest bodies he could get his hands on so as to make the fiddly little details of connecting various bits easier.

the part where Frankenstein sees the wretch (monster) for the first time after animating him. he's are 8 foot i believe. just google it, the first guy who answered is a wise butt
