How come they call medicine for 2 to 6 yrs of age infants. I think any child over 2 is a toddler to me infant is under 1 yrs of age. Just wonder if anybody else feels the same way.

Wow! I HAVE given that a great deal of thought and I am with you.
To me, a child under 1 years old is an infant

They label stuff in very weird ways. Some medicines label 6mos-2yrs as infant and others 2-6. I think that medicines that cannot be given before 2yrs tend more toward labeling themselves as infant medicine instead of children's medicine to differentiate between it and the dose for kids 6-12.

Yes i find it very weird. As a matter of fact whats even weirder is the fact that they call it infants medicine but in most cases the label says if under 2 consult a physician.

I agree with what you are saying, but I guess it's because it's for children. Children in french is enfants, so maybe they're using infants as a general 'children' medicine. To me, an infant is like a newborn. Once they walk, they're toddlers, and at three they're preschoolers, etc, etc, where do they draw the line with the naming?

Technically an infant is from birth to one year, or toddlerhood, whichever comes first.
A toddler is an infant who finally let go of the couch to walk, there is no actual age here.
A preschooler is usually aged 3 to 5, just until they go to kindergarden.

they don't - infants meds are up to 1 yr, toddlers are 2 to 6 - at least every bottle I've ever seen or used...

It is based on weight. They are trying to pretect themselves (manufacturers). It is always best to check with the doctor, but I found that the Traminic thin strips for infants work wonders and I didn't call my babies doc, even though it said to. Bad Mommy!!! :)

Please that is really the very least of your worries if you have any kids. Just go with the program and give them the correct dosage of whatever you have to give them to keep you from going more insane about the silly things that are posted everywhere.
