This years Grammy's just like last years was a little dissappointing. Whenever one group wins multiple awards it makes me wonder who is deciding these things? I mean yes the Dixie chicks are a great group, but are they really the best group from last year? I noticed I had most of the cd's of the other groups that didnt win vs. theirs. I don't know just seems weird. I mean think about it, Stadium Arcadium only won I think one grammy? What the heck?

The Grammys have continued to be political animal. They have always done things that way, but in the last few years, it seems the best way to get nominated and to win is to slam President Bush. The Dixie Chicks are pretty modest talent to have won so many categories, but they fit the number on need to "bash the establishment, man". This is so 70's/80's I expected to see more mullets.

Allot of it is political that's why they dragged out that ancient hack Joan Bias to introduce the Dixie Chicks The truth is that there are allot of aging audiophiles deciding what is good and are ignoring what good really is by proclaiming good as phenomenal and award winning because they're tastes run in that vein. I can still remember the last Grammy awards I ever watched the category was Best Heavy Metal band or album (I forget which) and Metallica was nominated and clearly had the best album and was clearly the best Band nominated however the winner was Jethro Tull and I was like HUH? Tull doesn't even belong in the Heavy Metal category and they win? I have been a musician for the majority of my life and have been involved in the music industry for the last twenty or so years it is a hollow soul less heartless business so please believe your ears not some wrinkly old hacks on some over rated election committee.

The Academy is made up of basically everyone who is in "the business" (everyone who was at the event, and then some) and they all vote to decide the winners. It's not a secret club or anything. But yeah, they tend to be impressed by loud-mouthed liberal messages so that's why the Chicks won so many times. Oh, and whenever "old people" (e.g. Stevie Wonder and Tony Bennet) are nominated, they win because all the voters are thinking "awww, Stevie has been around for such a long time, and I get warm-fuzzy feelings when I vote for him" instead of "I'm going to vote for Shakira because she ROCKS!"

Judging from the artists, they are old. Most of those winners were around for 10-20 years if not longer.

In my opinion, the best rock CD for 2006 was Carnival of Rust by Poets of the Fall.

I think it depends on if the Grammy board or whoever agree with your political views, if you sell lots of records, if you dress skanky, and if you 'cool'. The Grammys do not care about honoring good music at all.
