I can't play any sounds on my computer, not CD's, music already on the computer, sounds to videos on the internet, nothing.
I've checked everything I can think of (though, that's not saying much, my knowledge about computers taken into consideration), but can't find anything wrong.
Anyone got any ideas on what it can be, and how to fix it?

Once again, I really don't know a lot about computers so I kinda need to have this spelled out to me...

My computer is a laptop with the speakers in the keyboard, so it's not the wire.
And I've already checked the volume - about 30 times...

few things to check
- check the wire connection (if the speakers are in the keyboard - chances are it may be an internal problem and may need to replace the keyboard)
- next thing to check is the volume control section - you should see a speaker icon down near the clock - double click on it
this will open the Master Volume - check to see if the sound / volume is muted (has a check mark in it - if there is a check mark - uncheck it)
- while you have the Master Volume open - also check to make sure your volume sliders are turned up as well

check at the system properties (right click on the My Computer icon on the desktop then click properties then look for the device manager - then once you get in there look for - sound, video and game controllers - check to see if there is a yellow exclamation mark next to the sound/audio - right click on it - then click properties - it will say if the sound is working properly or if it isn't

1. While on your desktop, check to see if you have a small speaker icon in your task tray at the lower left side of your screen. If you do then your sound drivers are at least installed and working. Also in Control Panel if you click on Sound and Audio, and the go to Sounds, you should have speaker icons next to the sound effect samples and be able to play them. If the buttons are greyed out and don't respond to clicks at all, then your sound driver is disabled.

2. If you have the speaker icon in your task tray, then double click on it and make sure your volume is turned up and nothing is muted. If everything looks OK, then check if your speakers are attached to your line-out jack on the back of your PC (usually color coded green).

3. If you don't see the speaker icon, then you may either need to reinstall your sound drivers or in the worst case scenario, your sound card/audio controller (if it's onboard) might be dead or your onboard audio is disabled in the BIOS or Device Manager. If it is disabled in your BIOS, then reboot and go into your BIOS (the hotkey is different depending on your PC manufacturer) and check to see if your onboard audio is enabled. If it's a problem in your Device Manager, go into your Control Panel and click on System, then Hardware tab, and Device Manager and look for any exclamation marks or unknown devices listed... Remove them and try reinstalling the driver.

4. If this is a laptop, and your laptop has a "mute" button or physical volume control switch (which some new ones do), make sure that it is not turned off.

5. If all of the above don't work, then call your PC manufacturer (especially if it's a laptop with onboard audio) and have them service it.

Well, I guess you tried turning up the volume. Another thing is maybe the wire that connects the speakers to the hard drive isn't completely in, or fell out. You should check that. Just follow the wire from the speakers where it ends & if it's not in the hardware, plug it in. Hope that helped =]

Go to Start, Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices. Set Volume to maximum, uncheck the mute box.
To activate the mic, go to audio tap, click volume, and check the select box for mic. Turn volume to max.

Hope that help

When all else fails, take the computer back to the store where you bought it (assuming that you bought the computer at a store). There might be a hardware problem which only a repairman can fix.
