You haven't really provided a lot of information. Regardless, it is never a good idea to give an ultimatum like you have described. Particularly if not full-time positions are even available, they might just look at you and say "sorry to see you go."

Rather, I would talk with your boss or HR person and see if there are an opportunities to take on more responsibility. Position your arguement in terms of what you can bring to the company in a full-time position, as opposed to "me, me, me."

"You know, I have worked her X number of years. In that time I have learned how to (list all of your skills). I would appreciate the chance to be a more productive member of this team as a full time employee. It would be more cost effective for the company because instead of having multiple part time employees that (require uniforms, training, or whatever other expenses are relevent to your job) you could have one person handling these responsibilities."

Then see what they have to say. Either they will be open to your ideas or they will give you a reason why not. If they don't have anything, you start looking for a new job, and when you find one you give them your notice. But don't ever issue an ultimatum, because it will just turn out poorly.

i say if they dont give you full time, start looking and searching for another job. if you are working part time, one benefit to that, is that you have some free time so go and look. if you already are, continue, dont give up. instead of telling them if you dont give me full time here are my 2 weeks, first wait and talk to them..ask them if there is a possibility for a full time position now and say that you do want to work full time. if they say no or not sure, then do what you feel is best, either do give 2 weeks notice and quit or a month of you are able ( to get a good reference later on) or just say ok and continue working part time until you find a great full time job!

You can do anything you want to once you have secured a new source of income. Go out and find full time or part time employment with anybody else first.
