I am 35 weeks pregnant, and I have been constipated the whole time! Seriuosly, and when I can go, it's maybe twice a week. Doctor doesn't seem concerned, but I have heard it can cause problems during labor. My diet is really good, lot's of veggies, fruits, meats. I have a pretty good balance I think.

I just realized that I probably don't excercise enough. I sit at computer all day, could this be part of it? Duh, probably.

Fruit dynamite - Place 250 grams ( 8 oounces) each, of pitted prunes, pitted dates, dried figs, sultana raisins, and dried apricots in a large pot. Add enough water until it covers the fruit and is about an inch (3 cm) above the fruit. Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat until it is just barely boiling. Allow it to boil for one hour. ( yes an hour). Be sure to stir it often. As it boils it will thicken and so you can keep turning down the heat and still maintain a soft boil. Once it has boiled for an hour, turn the mixture off and remove it from the stove. Let it cool for one hour.
Add 1 cup ground flax seed, 1 cup wheat bran or wheat germ and 1/2 cup honey and 2 Tbsps Molasses ( optional). Stir well.
Puree the mixture in batches in a food processor or use a braun hand blender.
Put the pureed mixture into containers.
Start by taking 1/4 cup (60 mls.) in the morning and at night. I personally guarantee this will work. If it doesn't just eat more until it does. Be sure to drink lots of water as well.

Drink a nice big cup of prune juice. Then take 2 citrucel tablets every night with your prenatals.

This is what my OB/GYN told me to do when I was pregnant last year. It totally worked and now still take the tablets and my vitamins. I am so regular you can set your watch to my BMs.

Monkey has a point - Those Fiber One Chewey Chocolate and Oats bars are AWESOME! They are part of my Weight Watchers plan now, too.

Lots and lots of water is all i can suggest at 35 weeks. Add some extra fiber into your diet as well, maybe that will help. I was constipated up to that point too, but now that i'm overdue (40w4d pregnant) my body seems intent on cleaning me out!

Check with your doctor first of course, but try a cup of Badia Slimming Tea. It is a natural tea and it will help, i promise. You might need to take it for a few nights, but you will have results. Take it before bed.

Prune juice, fiber one cerial, fiber one granola bars that come with (yum) chocolate chips on top... stuff like that. If he doesn't seemed concerned maybe you should put a little pressure on him. Some docs don't get it until you're holding them by their tie.

Have you tried apple or prune juice? Also try walking and drinking lots of water.

if your doctor isnt concerned, I wouldnt worry about the labor.but if your uncomfortable, try drinking some prune juice, or grapefruit juice, that usually helps and since its natural, its ok for baby too.

Dried fruit works for me...dried apricots and peaches, prunes, raisins, cranberries...or a mix of all of them. They're tasty and make a good snack, too.
