I noticed the dishwasher wasn't getting dishes as clean anymore. Then water started hanging out in the bottem. Now it's pretty full of water that has no desire to drain. Could this be the dishwasher itself, or maybe a hose or something? Has this happened to any of you?
Thanks so much for the help!

The drain line is probably partially plugged, and it is getting worse. The drain line should go from your dishwasher to a vacuum breaker and from there to your garbage disposer (if you have one). If the drain water is not coming out of the vacuum breaker, the blockage is between the dishwasher and the vacuum breaker. if water runs out of the vacuum breaker, the clog is between the vacuum breaker and the garbage disposer.

It is pretty difficult to clear the drain line without sliding the dishwasher out and disconnecting the drain hose.

Try cleaning drain cover first. If there is no drain cover, go to Wal Mart and buy a bottle of Liquid Lightning Drain Opener, it's stronger than anything else available to the public. Pour half the bottle in (WEAR THICK RUBBER GLOVES!) and wait fifteen minutes, it should clear the drain fully. If not, use the other half bottle and that will clear it. Then get a replacement screen cover for the drain. Good Luck!

could be the drain. not trying to be smart. but my dishwasher has a screen where the water drains. sometimes food covers up the holes. if it is the drain try some liquid plumber or something along those lines
