My sister is expecting a baby in April and is considering the name Josie. (I don't like it, but I wouldn't say that to her.) Any opinions on the name?

I like Josie and I think it's so cute when parents name their kids Josie Lynn and call her that.....it's very adorable.

But that's the problem. It's cute at age 6. But at age 35, unless she's a country singer, Josie Lynn (or Just Josie) isn't exactly professional. How about Josephine or Jocelyn? Then she can call her Josie.

Good luck!!

I love the name Josie or Josephine.

Baby could be Josie, Jo, JoJo, Joss etc...

Very cute.

I always think of Napoleon's wife and consider Josephine a very romantic/regal name.

A agree that Josie is cute as a child name, but later in life, not so cute. I also agree that it is her child, she can name it anything she like.
I went on the Internet, maybe you can suggest that Josie is a nickname, and one of these names:
Josefina
Josselyn
Josephine
Josette
Josslyn
Tell your sister congratulations

I have a friend who named their daughter Josie. I think it's cute, but it fits perfectly with Josie Grossie like in Never Been Kissed.

I think Josephine would be a better full name. She could call the baby Josie for short.

I absolutely LOVE the name Josie! I think it is super cute and works well in childhood and adulthood (which is always an important consideration).
All the best to you, your sister and baby Josie!

Why not Josephine Lucille nickname Josie or Jo

I think that Josie is an adorable name... but in my personal opinion, I don't care for it that much. You could ask your sister to make Josie her middle name... and make her first name something more appealing. Of course, it IS your sister's girl, and that entitles her to decide the name. If your sister's husband likes it, then it's fine. If he doesn't, suggest the middle name idea.
