check the following website to disable it :

(if that doesn't help - try checking in the Help section of windows - click start - help & support)

Most likely because the phone line you are using has call waiting on it. This is the little beep that indicates another call is coming through. It disrupts the dail-up connection.
Most of the time, if you set the dailer up to dail *70,, before the munber. (*70 to disable call waiting for that call, and two ,, to instert a slight pause befoire dailing to let disable call waiting to take affect.)

dial up uses the same line as your phone, so you have to choose, you are either on the phone or the Internet, and if someone calls while you are on the Internet, then automatically, the phone line is already in use, and no more Internet. sux, dsl is way better.

i have that same problem but depending on what browser you use, you can set it up to not do that. Like, on aol, they have a setting where it stops it from knocking you off the internet. Other than that, i know nothing and i hope u solve ur problem. buh byes :)

You need to disable call waiting on the line. Call you phone service provider for instructions on how to do this or check out http://familyinternet.about.com/cs/internethelp/a/blcallwait.htm
