Charles Woodson is one of the all-time greats for the Wolverines. Some would say Braylon Edwards, Desmond Howard, and Carter. I would have to give it to Woodson based on the fact he was the 1st in a LONG while to win the Heisman as a Defensive Player, let alone at DB. He help lead his team to their 1st National Championship Title in a LONG time as well.

The best in college or the greatest at the next level? Because Tom Brady has already had a much better NFL career than Woodson.

While Charles Woodson is talented, he is by-far not the best of all time. In that list you have to include these famous Wolverines:
Gerald R. Ford - The future US Presdient played both ways as center and linebacker and helped the Wolverines to undefeated seasons and national titles in 1932 and 1933.
Tom Harmon - who won the school's first Heisman as a running back, but also excelled as a kicker and quarterback. Harmon rushed for 2,134 yards during his career at Michigan, completed 100 passes for 1,304 yards and 16 touchdowns, and scored 237 points. In his final game, against Ohio State Harmon led the Wolverines to a 40-0 victory, scoring three rushing touchdowns, two passing touchdowns, four extra points, intercepting three passes, and punting three times for an average of 50 yards. He led the nation in scoring in 1939 and 1940.
Ron Kramer - a three-sport athlete (football, basketball and track), Kramer led both the football and basketball teams in scoring for two years. Altogether, Kramer won a total of nine varsity letters in his three sports - the maximum number possible, as freshmen did not have athletic eligibility at the time.
Anthony Carter - Despite playing in an offensive scheme that relied mostly on its running backs, he was one of the most productive receivers in the school's history. At the time he graduated, Carter held nearly every Michigan career receiving and return record including touchdowns; receptions; receiving yards; touchdown receptions; punt returns; punt return yardage; kickoff returns; and kickoff return yardage.
Desmond Howard - During his college career at the University of Michigan, Howard set or tied five NCAA and 12 Michigan records. He also lead the Big Ten Conference in scoring with 138 points during the 1991 season on his way to winning the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award, and earning an Second Team All-American selection.
As good as he is, I don't think Woodson stacks up well against those five...

No way ..... Tom Brady, if you want someone who succeeded all around and at the pro level or Desmond Howard if you want to go off of college career only.
Charles was great in college (as evidence by the Heisman) but is an overrated pro player.

I will say he is because corner is the hardest position to play in football. And along with deion sanders, he was the most shut down corner i've ever seen. Also, he was a good returner and a good reciever. The most important thing was he made the big plays when they were needed. He completely shut downterry glenn and in their game agianst ohio state in 97 he had a int in the endzone, had a 37 yard recpetion on third down and had a punt return for a touchdown. Also, that one handed int against michigan state was sick!

Different era, but read up on Tom Harmon (Heisman Trophy winner). Woodson and Desmond Howard were really fun to watch, though.

I would say Desmond Howard had a better college career, and the one who made a big career in the pros is Tom Brady
