I would assume most people attribute these traits to someone that is artistic:
Probably left handed
Visual- (for example- if watching a great movie- would possibly watch it a second time to check out the background scenery.)
Sensitive to others moods
Creative(a given)
Moody
Willing to take chances
Bohemian lifestyle
Dressing to their own drummer

A stereotype of an artist could include: 1) being an introvert, 2) always seeking or promoting a cause, 3) smoking, 4) wearing black, 5) invasive but afraid to let others in their world (i.e.: wanting to enter or photograph your private space), and 6) chronically underemployed or unemployed.

You may want to point out that although there are stereotypes, many people are still jealous that artists live off of their passion.

All artists aren't the same. An artist is someone who is basically an 'individualist', one who 'won't' ever follow up in another person's shoe/ideals/etc. They simply come up with their own trends. Idealistic, Intuitive/Imaginative, Creative, Liberals, Different ... all in their 'own' way or the high-way..
'Dare-to-be-themselves' types, all in terms of art.

To many rednecks: a black women artist/writer living in the South your main focus and experience should be racism, discrimination, bullying, stalking, harassment, abuse, negativity and all manner of subversive activities. If not, they will do their uttermost to make sure it is the focus of your work.
